Hey guys, happy 2020!
This will not be a compassing post from my behalf, but more of a quick story...
When PBR just entered the 3D scene, I quickly jumped on Substance painter, however, I did not like it at first so I switched to Quixel suite and felt right at home, from the get go.
Since the start of 2019. I kinda started hating Quixel, due to the fact, that my friend/business partner worked in Substance and pretty much everything seemed a lot better and faster! The idea to switch was planted in my head, but I just needed that extra push to do it! Well, that push came in November, when we worked on a huge environment pack for Unreal market and run into issues...
The non existing tri-planar mapping never slowed me down due to good UV maps, but it turns out, UE marketplace support is REALLY GOOD LOL.
They pretty much found each and every seem that we had on the scene and all of them came from my models haha
I also really enjoy the speed and performance on substance painter and on-mesh painting system!
So, I switched to Substance and damn, it is like 100x better than it was at the very beginning! I am really happy that I made the switch and probably will use Quixel only for some kind of tillable textures or something...
Perhaps someone has a similar story? :)
This is my first work in Substance painter! (You can also check the complete project on my profile!)
